- WORDEN, Peter - Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, Nov. 21, 1 1996, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 80th year.
Lifelong resident of Cambridge.
Dearly beloved husband of Marguerite (Carney). Proud father of John (Mary Ann), Jennifer, Molly, Katherine, Shelley, Joseph and Jeffrey (Susan). Cherished grandfather of David, Charles, Andrew, Christopher, Catherine, Michael, Peter and Matthew. Dear brother of Marie Bain and Lillian O'Connor, both of Toronto.
Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126 and d the American Federation of Musicians Local 226. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the RCAF in Great Britain and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) with 413 Squadron. He was employed as an agent with Metropolitan Life for 22 years, taught at St. Jerome's High School, Kitchener and was a member of the Cambridge Real Estate Board since 1981. A musician from early youth, Peter played in several local groups including the Galt Kiltie Band and the Cambridge Concert Band.
Peter will be remembered for his enthusiastic zest for life, a positive attitude and caring way toward friends, family and strangers.
Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, today (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 25, 1996 at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Clement's RC Church or Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family. A legion service under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126 will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Parish prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

PETER WORDEN Leading Aircraftman Peter Worden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Worden, Preston, enlisted with the R. C. A. F. on April 21, 1941, as a radio technician. Born in Preston, Aircraftman Worden resided there all his life, attending St. Clement R. C. school, Galt Collegiate Institute for two years and Preston high school for two years. Prior to his enlistment he was employed with H. K. Stager. While attending Preston high school, Aircraftman Worden played rugby and hockey. He is a member of St. Clement's R.C. church and also of the Catholic Youth Organization, also the Badminton and Tennis clubs. He has completed his course as radio technician at Fredericton, Í.Â.
