- VOELKER, Dr. Philip Andrew - Died peacefully, on Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at Grand River Hospital, K-W Health Centre, age 82 years, of Waterloo. He was born in Kitchener and graduated in medicine in 1938 from the University of Toronto. He started general practice in Waterloo in 1940 and served as Medical Officer of Health in Waterloo for 27 years. He was president of K-W Academy of Medicine and was honored by the Academy for his community services. The Ontario Medical Association presented him with the Glenn Sawyer Award. He was a member of First United Church, Waterloo. He served four years in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as a Squadron Leader and then Commanding Officer of Convalesc-ent Hospital. Son of the late Albert and Louise Voelker. Husband of Curly; father of Mary Lou and her husband Dr. Jim Israel of Waterloo, Linda Voelker of London, Ont., Cam Voelker and his wife Kim and Margaret Voelker, all of Waterloo; grandfather of 10 grand-children and two great-grand-children. Also remembered by his cousin, Isabel Voelker of Winnipeg. Predeceased by one brother, Charles and one sister, Margaret McEachren. A memorial service for Dr. Voelker will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at First United Church, Waterloo, Rev. Judy Keenan.Harris officiating. Cremation.
