  Demise of Mrs. (Rev.) McRae - A very wide circle of friends and acquaintances will learn with deep sorrow of the passing in the hey-day of life of Rachel Gillam McRuer, beloved wife of Rev. A. R. McRae, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, Glenmorris, which sad event occurred at the Manse, Glenmorris, at 11.30 p. m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4th, 1922, after an illness of nearly two years from the effects of influenza. The deceased, who was in her 39th year, was born in South Dumfries, and was married in 1912. For some time she resided at Kintyre, where her husband was pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and later at Gobles, in both of which spheres she was active in church work, and was beloved in these congregations. As a young woman she was connected with Knox Church, Ayr, where she was a member of the choir and a worker in ?.. Besides her husband and three sons, Donald, Neil and Andrew, her father, Mr. Wm. McRuer, South Dumfries, two brothers and two sisters, also survive. The brothers and sisters are Robert and William McRuer, South Dumfries , Mrs. Morton Hall, Blenheim; Mrs. Wyllie Guthrie, South Dumfries. The funeral took place on Saturday, with service in the church, the ministers taking part being Rev. J. J. Brown of Ayr and Rev. Mr. Nicholson of Paris. The pallbearers were Messrs. John Weir, Bruce Carswell, Jas. Aitkin, Jas. Sharp, Watson McPherson and Kenneth McDonald. Interment was made in the Ayr cemetery. The Ayr News Jan 12 1922 pg 1
