- RICHARD ALLAN GINGERICH "DICK" April 20, 1929 February 13, 2010 Active member of All Saints Lutheran Church, peacefully after a brief illness Dick was called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Beloved husband of 61 years to Jean (nee Cater). Much loved father of Mark (Jane), Peter, John (Martha), Wendy Gibbard and Matthew (Sandy). Cherished grandfather of Michael, Rachael, Sarah, Julia, Emily, Scott, Patricia and James. Loving great-grandfather of Eric, Megan, Natalie and Geena. Dear brother of Elaine Himburg. Predeceased by his parents Elsie and George Gingerich, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes , 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road), Nepean on Wednesday February 17, 2010 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10: 30 to 11: 30 a.m. Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1061 Pinecrest Road, Ottawa on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 1: 30 pm. The celebration of Dick's life includes a distinguished career in the labour movement and political activism culminating in selfless dedication to service of his Lord and church. With all his achievements in life there was nothing more important than family. No greater accolade could be bestowed on him than "Grandpa". He will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues. In lieu of flowers, donations to All Saints Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
