- OBITUARY R. R. DAVIS IS DEAD
Prominent Figure in Educational and Masonic Circles Gone.
Richard R. Davis died at his home. 118 Havelock street, last night, after an illness of neary a year. He was born in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1845 and came to Canada when nine years of age. He received his early education at Louisa street public school, and at the time of his death was president of the Louisa Old Boys' Association. For the last few years he had been manufacturer's agent a after severing his connections with the W. R. Brock Co. and Gordon MacKay Company. He was a member of the council of Wycliffe College and of the Upper Canada Bible and Tract Society: past master of St. John's Lodge, A. F. and A. M.; in polities he was a Conservative. being treasurer of Ward 2 Conservative Association for many years. He represented that ward as trustee on the Board of Education until five years ago.
One son. Mr. R. Reade Davis, of Toronto, and four brothers survive, William R., proprietor of the Mitchell Advocate; Heury, Custom's officer at Wingham; Rev. Canon Davis, of Sarnia, and Very Rev. Dean Davis,of London, Orrs, Mrs. Davis predeceased him.
