- ROBERTA BARCLAY
PRESTON, Feb, 1 - Roberta Barclay, for years a well known resident of this town, passed awaylat her home here yesterday in her 75th year. Born in Guelph, she went as young girl to Winnipeg where her father, Capt. James Barclay, had the contract to build Stoney Mountain Penitentiary.
Educated at St. Mary's Academy. Miss Barclay returned to Guelph upon her father's retirement from business. Later the family took up residence at Blair, Athol, in the Village of Blair. Later, Miss Barclay and her niece, Miss Rita Armstrong, moved to Preston.
A lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, Miss Barclay was active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Women's Missionary Society. She was interested as well in the Victorian Order of Nurses and was a charter member of the Preston chapter, IODE.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. James Stirton of Winnipeg and Mrs. W. G. O'Brien of Kingman. Arizona. and her niece, Miss Armstrong of Preston.
