- RUPPEL, Roland Oscar - Roland passed away peacefully, on September 14, 2006, in White Rock, BC, at 89 years.Roland was born and raised in Elmira, Ont. He courted and married his life partner Marie Malinsky who predeceased him in July of 1995. Roly began his business career in Elmira with the Royal Bank. He then served with the 3rd Canadian Medium Regiment from 1942 to 1946. Upon his return home, he continued his career with Reid Fertilizer and Grove Manufacturing. In 1961 with the tireless help and support of Marie, he built, owned and operated "Elmira Bowl" until 1984. During retirement, Roland and Marie enjoyed travelling and visiting family and friends. Roland was actively involved with St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Elmira as well as the Lutherwood Foundation. For his last six years, he resided in White Rock, BC close to his two sons Ronald and William. Roland is survived by son Ron (Elizabeth), Bill (Tina), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on the 30th of September 2006 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 27 Mill St., Elmira, Ont. at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lutherwood Foundation at 285 Benjamin Road, Waterloo, Ont., N2J 3Z4 would be appreciated
