    • AXT, Russell Arnold - Peacefully, on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo, Russell Axt, formerly of RR 2, Petersburg. He was born in Guernsey, Sask., 90 years ago, a son of the late Jacob and Livia (Cressman) Axt. Russell was a member of Grace Mennonite Fellowship, 2111 Bean Rd., RR 1, New Hamburg. Russell had farmed in Wilmot township for many years. He was an honorary life member of Ray of Hope Inc. and had volunteered with the Mennonite Disaster Service. Dear brother of Irene Cathcart, Luella Axt and Lillian Bowman, all of Cambridge and Alice Gingrich of Kitchener. Also missed by nieces, Cheryl Lowe, Janet Eade, Marilyn Hovinga and Laurel Reibling and a number of grandnieces and grand-nephews. Russell was predeceased by a brother, Andrew; brothers-in-law, Stanley Bowman, David Cathcart and Henry Gingrich. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, tonight (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002 transfer will be made to Shantz Mennonite Church for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Earl Koch and Pastor Howard Bean officiating. Burial in Shantz Mennonite Cemetery, RR 2, Baden. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Christian Aid Ministries or Parkwood Mennonite Home.
