  Berlin. Death from Exposure: The Berlin News says: Samuel Shoemaker, a young man belonging to this town, died at his father's house early Thursday morning. He had been employed on the steamer Manitoba, on Lake Huron, which met with an accident recently. His death was the result of exposure and hardship while that vessel was disabled. Shoemaker walked from Owen Sound to Elmira, after landing, while in a very weak condition. He took the train to Berlin on Saturday afternoon and though everything was done for him his life could not be saved. Elmira Signet 13 July 1893 p. 8, col. 3-4
