- GIILCK, Sandra Hope (Nee Balzer) - Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, with her family at her side, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Friday, March 14, 2008. Sandra was born in Kitchener on June 10, 1939. Loving wife for 48 years of Lawrence. Dear mother of Deborah Giilck and her husband Brian Bisch of Walkerton, Donna Fulcher and her husband Peter of Elmira and Bruce Giilck of Guelph. Loving grandmother to Matthew and Mandy Fulcher, Brandon Jones-Giilck and Tyler Reid-Giilck. Sister of Rosemarie Samagalski of Winnipeg and Robert Austin of Burnaby. Fondly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Shirley Giilck of Blyth and by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother, Emily Alice Schedler and father, Joseph Irwin Balzer and by her step-fathers, William Polfuss and Joseph Austin. Sandra was an active member of Trinity United Church in Elmira. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at Chateau Gardens in Elmira. Before her retirement, Sandra worked in the bakery at Zehrs. She also lovingly provided child care for her grandchildren and was extremely talented with crafts. Sandra also enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At 9 a.m on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 transfer will be made to Trinity United Church, Elmira for funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Jagger officiating. Interment in Memory Gardens, Breslau. In her memory, donations to Chateau Gardens Auxiliary or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
