- REID, Selma\emdash Peacefully, on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, Selma Erika Reid, passed away, at Trinity Village Care Centre,in her 84th year.
Predeceased by her loving husband, William in December 1989. Survived by six children, Pat and Ken Snider of Bloomingdale, John Reid and Pat Knowles of Guelph Judy Young and Brian Orser of Ottawa, Dennis and Joanne Reid of Kitchener, Bob and Sue Reid of Wellesley and Sally and Jim Wilhelm of Maryhill. Predeceased by her son, William in September 1999.
Mom was born in Wadena, Sask., where she grew up on the homestead farm with her four sisters and three brothers. Survived by sisters, Diane, Lily and Ethel, all of British Columbia. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Kristine Elander; her sister, Ruth and brothers, Edwin, Roy and Ole, all of Saskatchewan.
Mom and Dad were longtime residents of Conestogo and later Elmira where they spent their retirement years.
She will always be remembered for her commitment to family, her wonderful sense of humour and her love of dancing. Her lively spirit lives on through her 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Friday, March 9, 2001 from 7-9 p.m. and will receive again from 1-2 p.m. today (Saturday), followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment at St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery in Conestogo.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or Trinity Village Care Centre.
