- MITCHELL, Sandy (nee Saunders)
After a long and wonderful life, in the loving arms of her husband and surrounded by her devoted family, at home, Mom was called to be with God on February 12, 2007.
Loved forever by her husband of 60 years, Tom, and her children, David Mitchell and Heather Ferguson, Janet and Scott Uffelman, Karen and Brian Huber, Brian and Mitchell, Marilyn and Brad Michael, Nancy Mitchell and Trish and John Piggott. Blessed with 17 loving grandchildren whom she treasured and adored, Evan, Patrick and Lexie (Chris) Mitchell, Emily (Ryan), Kate James Uffelman, Andrew, Justin and Sarah Huber, Thomas, Amy, Jonathan and Jordan Mitchell, Laura and David Michael and Paige and Ryan Piggott.
Sandy had a zest for life and a strong and determined spirit. Mom possessed many talents and excelled at everything she did including painting, sewing, Bridge and cooking and entertaining. Her greatest joys were her family and the 60 years spent with the love of her life, Tom. Sandy was the most wonderful Mom and she was exemplary in showing her children kindness and love. She was proud of her job at the Privy Council in Ottawa and enjoyed many years working in the office at Eatons, Kitchener. Sandy enhanced so many lives including those of her sisters and brother, Phyllis, Betty Ann and Ronnie, nieces and nephews and many cherished friends and relatives.
Thank you to the dialysis team and Dr. Rosenstein at Grand River Hospital. We experienced a monumental display of compassion, respect and devotion from Dr. Egerdie. We thank you and will remember it always.
Sandy's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 13 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street in Kitchener. A private family service on Thursday, February 15 at 11 a.m. officiated by Reverend J. Mark Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parents for Community Living or the Renal Dialysis Unit at Grand River Hospital would be appreciated.
Mom, may your final journey bring you peace, comfort and the knowledge that your life has left a legacy of love. Your example of love and strong faith will always be an inspiration to the people whose e lives you touched. We will love you forever.
