  Thomas Deans Cowan was educated in Galt and at the Ontario Agricutual College. In 1904 after graduation he moved to Argentina returning 1912 to Galt to take up farming. In 1920 he moved to the old family farm Clochmohr and was a director of the firm Cowan and Co. of Galt. He was president of the South Waterloo Argicultural Society. Cambridge Mosiac, Jim Quantrell, 1998, City of Cambridge [abbreviated snippet from original text in book] _______________ Thomas Cowan GALT, Thomas Cowan of 8 Hillcrest Drive, died Monday, at South Waterloo Hospital. He was 92. Mr. Cowan was born on the farm he operated at RR 3, Galt, where his son now farms. He later farmed at Clochmhor Farm on Highway 24, for 49 years. He retired to Galt last year. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Galt and was past president and an honorary life director of the South Waterloo Agricultural Society. For many years he was a director of Cowan and Co., a wood-working machine manufacturing firm, in Galt. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ethel M. Turnbull, in 1930 and is survived by his second wife, the former Jennie F. Turnbull; a son, James of Galt; two daughters, Marion of Toronto and Mrs. Donald (Helen) Virgo of Montreal; a sister, Mrs. Lewis A. (Isobel) LaPierre of Galt and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. The body is at Little's Funeral Home, Galt, where the service will be conducted, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount View cemetery.
