- Mr. T.Gerald McHugh, K.C.
A distinguished 40-year career in law by Mr. T. Gerald McHugh, K.C., has been ended by death. It was in 1911 that Mr. McHugh, a native son of Windsor, completed his studies at Osgoode Hall, and set up practice here, as his father, County Judge Michael Andrew McHugh, had done before him.
In the years that followed, Mr. McHugh won a growing esteem in Windsor and beyond. Pleasant, competent, quick of wit, and with a bit of the blarney on his facile tongue, he was effective in the courtroom and on the platform. Politically he was a Conservative, though never a rabid partisan. Most of his work was done at the riding association level, and for years it helped keep the party united and strong. As a sportsman, he was interested in the development of young athletes, especially hockey players.
Ill health limited his active participation in affairs these past two years, yet his death came as a surprise and shock to the great number who knew him and had been hoping for his recovery. It was a sad loss to his family, a blow to his profession, and it leaves a void in Windsor.
