Notes |
- WHITELAW, THOMAS HENDERSON was born about 1867 in Guelph. He died on November 8, 1943 in Guelph. His father was William Whitelaw, a pioneer of the Paisley Block, Guelph.
He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1894 and began to practice in Fergus, but moved to Hespeler in that year. The Hespeler correspondent of the Berliner Journal noted his arrival on November 29th.
Dr. Whitelaw, the fourth doctor here has today hung up his shingle.
He occupied the office of Dr. Swan, but his stay in Hespeler was short. The Daily Record of March 22, 1895 reported:
Dr. White law, of Hespeler, who took charge of the smallpox patient, Swartz, during his incarceration in the small-pox hospital, Guelph, has determined to locate in that city.
The Volksblatt of March 16, 1898 said he was leaving for the Northwest Territories. He settled in Edmonton and practised there until 1939 when he retired to Guelph, where he died in 1943.
