  • Notes
    • MILROY, THOMAS MCKETCHIE was a son of John Milroy, North Dumfries, and graduated in 1882 from Trinity University Medical School. Toronto.

He first worked for a lumber company in the Parry Sound district, and the next year took a postgraduate course in New York. On July 31. 1884 he commenced to practice in Hespeler.

The Dumfries Reformer took a somewhat proprietary interest in him, as a native son.

On July 31 they reported his arrival, and said that he was a promising young practitioner, and that they would be pleased to hear of his success.

On August 7 he had opened a neat office in Mr. Shaw. s building on Queen Street.

On September 18, in a progress report, they said he had made hosts of friends."The doctor is a perfect gentleman and we hope to see him achieve the success he richly deserves."

On October 9 the blow fell - he had left for Portage la Prairie. They regretted his departure, wished him will, etc.

From Portage la Prairie he moved to Winnipeg where he practised for fifty years. He died in Vancouver on January 31, 1947.
