  BOWMAN, Vernon C. Passed away and set sail to his heavenly port of call on January 23, 2010, in his 77th year, with his family by his side. Vern was an avid sailor and long time member of the Midland Bay Sailing Club; a long standing member of A.A. and a V.A. veteran. Loving husband of Marie. Sadly missed by children; Richard (Barb) Bowman, Veronica (Charles) Matchett, Valerie (Brian) Poirier, Dianna Bowman and David (Sabrina) Bowman. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Vern is survived by his sister Cleo and brother Gilbert. Predeceased by his parents, Eldon and Mabel Bowman and his brother Edgar. He will be lovingly remembered by his extended family Debbie and Dave, Mike and Sue, Kevin and Cathy, Jackie and Chuck, Greg and 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his nieces and nephews and many friends. A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 845 Yonge Street, Midland on Saturday, January 30th at 1:00 p.m. (with visitation one hour prior). A Reception will follow the service in the auditorium of the church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Society, Gideon Society or Holy Cross Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
