- SCHEIFELE, Walton - At K-W Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 24, 1991, age 73 years, of 331 King St. N., Waterloo.
Mr. Scheifele was born in Waterloo and was a son of the late Cordella Eby and Sidney Scheifele. He was retired from the Waterloo Regional Police Force where he had worked for 35 years. When Mr. Scheifele retired, and in recognition of his years of service to the police department, the Wally Watchout Safety Program was introduced into the school system and is still used today. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, the Waterloo Laurel Kiwanis Club, the Waterloo Regional Police Association and the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Reibel in 1967 and a sister and a brother-in-law, Bernice and Jacob Dreisinger and one step-son, Patrick Hergott.
Beloved husband of Vera Yost and dear father of Dr. David Scheifele and his wife Carolyn of Richmond, B.C. and loving grandpa to three grandchildren, Steven, Scott and Adrienne. He is also lovingly remembered by his step-children, Irene and Robert Jutzi of Baden, Wilson and Joyce Cook and Ron B. Kropf and Brenda, all of Wellesley, Kelsey and John Kuepfer of RR 1, New Hamburg, Art and Teri Kropf, Bruce Kropf and Valerie, all of Kitchener, Shirley Hergott of St. Clements and Berenice and Allan Herrfort of RR 1, Newton; 19 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Ross and his wife Edith Dreisinger of Kitchener, Don and his wife Eva Dreisinger of Waterloo and one niece, Corean and her husband Carl Pleon of Waterloo.
Mr. Scheifele's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, from 7-9 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. At noon on Thursday, transfer will be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow St., Waterloo, for the funeral service at 3 p.m. (Thursday), with Rev. Luther Eberhardt officiating. Interment to follow in Parkview cemetery, Waterloo.
