    • Shantz, Ward A., son of Aldred and Cinetta (Gimbel) Shantz, was born in Waterloo Township, Ont., Dec. 3, 1918; died of cancer at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, Mar. 15, 1982; aged 63 y. On Apr. 4, 1942, he was married to Erma Martin, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Ross), 3 daughters (Marilyn-Mrs. Don Snyder, Sandra-Mrs. John Schiedel, and Margaret-Mrs. Tom Stockie), one brother (Lloyd), and 8 grandchildren. He was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Mar. 17, in charge of Wilmer Martin; interment in church cemetery.

      SHANTZ, Ward A.\emdash
      At St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday, March 15, 1982, Ward A. Shantz, aged 63 years, of RR 1, St. Agatha.
      Mr. Shantz was born in Waterloo township and was a son of the late Aldred Shantz and the former Sinetta Gimbel. He farmed most of his life at RR 1, Waterloo and recently at RR 1, St. Agatha.
      He was the founding chairman of the Ontario Mennonite Relief Sale in New Hamburg; a director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Stock Yards; president of the Wilmot Agricultural Society. He was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, Waterloo where he was past chairman of the church council and a former member of the trustee board of the church.
      Survived by his beloved wife, the former Erma Martin; dear father of Ross N, and his wife Sandra of RR 1, St. Agatha, Marilyn and her husband Don Snyder of Winnipeg, Sandra and her husband John Schiedel of RR 1, Waterloo and Margaret and her husband Tom Stockie of St. Agatha; brother of Lloyd F. of RR 1, Waterloo. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
      Mr. Shantz's family are receiving friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St S., Waterloo. At noon on Wednesday, removal will be made to the Erb Street Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 3 p.m. (Wednesday), with Rev. Wilmer Martin officiating. Interment to follow in Erb Street Mennonite cemetery.
      In memory of Mr. Shantz, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
