- SCHLEE, Wilfred H. - Age 71 years, died at his home in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, on Sunday, April 23, 1995., Husband of. Louise (McEwan) Schlee.
They were married for 49 years. Born in Kitchener, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942-1945. He moved to Lockport, N.Y. in 1946, becoming a United States citizen in 1954. In Lockport he founded W.H. Schlee Company Inc. and Schlee Lumber Company. He served as President of the Lockport Industrial Management Club and as President of the Lockport Rotary Club.
He moved to Glenview, Illinois in 1962, where he was Vice President of Donald F. Duncan, Inc. In 1965 he founded Festival Products, Inc. of Skokie, Illinois. He moved to Rhode Island in 1966, when Festival Products was acquired by Union Wadding Company of Pawtucket. was Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Union Wadding, retiring in 1988.
An avid golfer, Mr. Schlee was a member of the Rhode Island Country Club, the Rhode Island State Seniors' Golf Association and the American Seniors' Golf Association. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Deborah Broadhead of North Andover, Mass.; a son, David Schlee Kansas City, Mo.; brother, John Schlee of Kitchener; a sister, Carol Schwindt of Kitchener and, three grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Wilfred H. Schlee and Cora Huehnergard.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28 at St. John's Episcopal Church, County Road, Barrington.
