    • MRS. HENRY THERING

      Mrs. Clara W. Thering, aged 74, of Cooperstown, RD 3, died Thursday at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. Mrs. Thering was born at New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada, on June 17, 1893, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Poppert) Gertung. She was married to Henry Thering on May 1, 1924, in New York City.

      She was a registered nurse and for the past 28 years had resided in the Christian Hill section in the Town of Hartwick at Cooperstown, RD 3. She was a former resident of Hartwick. Mrs. Thering was a member of the Hartwick Seminary Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the New York State Registered Nurses Association.

      Surviving are her husband; two sons, Ferdinand S. of Cooperstown, RD 3 and Henry E. of Anderson, Ind.; a daughter. Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Balli of Buckshannon, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; f o u r sisters, Mrs. Mildred Gartung and Miss Gertrude Gartung, both of Kitchener, Ontario, Mrs. Mabel Edwards of Niagara Falls, Ont, and Mrs. Marguerite Caverly, Toronto, and a number of nieces and nephews.
      Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Monday, June 3, from the Patterson Funeral Home in Hartwick, with the Rev. Louis Wagschal, retired Lutheran pastor of Laurens, officiating. Burial was in Hartwick Seminary Cemetery.
