Swan Street, Ayr resident Wm. Henry Iles died at the Willett Hospital, Paris on Tuesday, August 24, 1999. Mr. Iles was in his 84th year. Born in Westbury, England he was son of the late Winifred Elizabeth Smith and William Joseph Iles. Mr. Iles was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Canadian Army; he was an avid fisherman, member of the Ayr Sportsmen Hunting Gang and was a former long-time employee at the John Watson factory in Ayr. He is survived by his wife Pauline Brooks; his daughter Janette and her husband Vern Herrin of Wolverton; son Ron and his wife Gay of Ayr; grandchildren Jason and his wife Colleen Iles of Ayr and Verna and her husband Henry Bandi of Markham; great-grandchildren Maclean Iles and Dawson Bandi; brother Joseph Wood of Sauble Beach and sister Anne Maguire of Hamilton. Private funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
