Notes |
- Pte. William Reid the Latest to Make the Supreme Sacrifice
Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Reid of Ayr received a telegram Sunday morning from the Military Intelligence Office at Ottawa announcing the death in action on Nov 11, of their son, Pte. William Reid. "Pink," as he was familiarly known among his associates, enlisted with the 111th Battalion, and had therefore been overseas for some time. He was popular with a large circle of friends who will sincerely regret his fate. Besides his aged parents he leaves two brothers and two sisters to mourn their loss. Three of them, John, Mrs. Greer and Miss Ella, reside in Toronto while David is at the parental home. Out of respect to the memory of Pte. Reid and Lance Corp. Carpenter, the town flag, the emblem of Empire for which they gave their lives, is flying at half-mast.
