- W. Melville Veitch Passes
W. Melville Veitch, St. Jacobs, died Wednesday in Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital after a brief illness. He was 80.
Mr. Veitch was born near Galt, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Veitch. He lived in St. Jacobs for the past two years and formerly at Roseville for many years. He farmed near Roseville and following his retirement from the farm he worked at Simpson's Sawmill, Galt, for 20 years.
He was formerly a member of the Waterloo Township Public School Board and a director of the Waterloo Township Plowing Match. He was a member of the Roseville United Church.
Predeceased by his wife, the former Gertrude Viola Fried, Mr. Veitch is survived by one son, Robert, and a daughter, Mrs. George (Marguerite) Rieck, both of Kitchener; a brother, Clare, of Brussels; two sisters, Mrs. William (Mae) Edgar and Mrs. Albert (Jennie) Ritchie, both of Ayr; and three grand-children.
Rev. G. F. Jackson and Rev. Schlenker conducted funeral and committal service Saturday afternoon from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener. Burial in Roseville Cemetery.
