- CRIMLESS, EDWARD RICHARD
Puslinch Farmer Dies in Hospital After Accident - September 10, 1941.
Edward Crimless loses Life when Car Goes out of control at End of Curve on Guelph-Hamilton Highway - to Hold Inquest
Suddenly, at St. Joseph's Hospital, in his 38th year. Husband of Mary McNulty. Youngest son of Mrs. Philip Crimless and the late Philip Crimless. Father of Edward and Marie. Also survived by three brothers and four sisters: Charles and James, at home; Frank of Toronto; Mary, at home; Mrs. David McGarr of Puslinch; and Mrs. Bert Bracey of Hespeler. Mr. Crimless was born in Puslinch Township, attended Aberfoyle School and had resided in that district all his life. In 1929, he married Mary McNulty. He was a devout member of the congregation of the Church of Our Lady. Four others are in St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph, following a truck-car collision on Highway 6, three miles south of Guelph, late Tuesday night. Mr. Crimless, widely known resident of Puslinch Township (R. R. #3, Guelph) died Wednesday morning, September 10, 1941 in hospital, less than twelve hours after the accident. The injured are James Crimless, James McNulty, both of R. R. #3, Guelph, Robert Barnett of Arkell and Thomas Gallagher of Guelph. The Crimless brothers, according to police, were passengers in an automobile proceeding in a southerly direction, which skidded almost broadside into a light truck, in which Mr. Gallagher, Barnett and McNulty were travelling. The accident occurred near a curve in the highway, only a short distance from the Crimless farm. The truck was travelling in the opposite direction. Mr. Crimless, according to his attending physician, died from head and possible internal injuries. The others are suffering from head injuries, body bruises and shock. Both machines were badly damaged by the impact, which is alleged to have occurred on the east side of the centre line of the road. The injured were removed to hospital by ambulance, after a passing motorist summoned aid. The Crimless car was driven by James Crimless, 43, and the truck by Thomas Gallagher of Alice St. in Guelph. The funeral took place on Sat. at 10: 40 from his late residence at R. R. #3, Guelph, Hamilton highway, to Church of Our Lady for requiem high mass at 11: 15. It was largely attended by relatives, neighbours and friends from Markdale, Darnoch, Toronto and Kitchener. On arrival at the church, Rev. Dr. J. A. O'Reilly, J. C. D., blessed the casket and requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Vincent Shea of Elora. There were numerous spiritual offerings and lovely floral tributes and a large gathering of friends and relatives. Pallbearers: John McNulty, Jr., Joseph Smith, Archie Moody, Sidney Maltby, Frank McGarr and Harry Laking. Interment Marymount Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Father J. P. Lardie.
