- Croskery plans to retire from St Mary's
Dr Howard Croskery executive director of St Mary's Hospital in Kitchener will end his 10-year association with the institution when he retires in November at age 65
Hospital officials have just begun the search for his replacement
The 350-bed hospital is owned and operated by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Diocese of Hamilton Advertisements said the candidate should be a "selfstarter with a high energy level"
Cranson Knechtet chairman of the hospital board said it is hoped a successor will be chosen by the end of August.
Croskery came to Kitchener as medical director of the hospital in April 1972 In July 1979 he added the top executive post to his duties
He received his training at the University of Toronto medical school and entered the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in 1943 During his career in the armed forces he served as commanding officer of the Canadian section of Lettish military hospitals in Iserlohn Germany and Kure Japan.
Before moving into hospital administration he was chief of staff at the National Defence Medical Centre in Ottawa He was also an associate professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa.

CROSKERY, Dr. W. Howard R. At Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, Ontario, on Wednesday, January 28, 1998, in his 81st year. Husband of the late Mary-lou (Shields) Croskery (1995), dear father of Deborah Madill and her husband Albert, Simcoe, Ontario, Peter Croskery, Grimsby, Ontario, and Susan Croskery, Salmon Arm, B.C. Proud grandfather of Heather and Sarah Madill and Leslie and Andrew Croskery. Also survived by sister Sheila Pettit of Nepean, Ontario, and brother David Croskery of Braeside, Ontario. Dr. Croskery was a graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School in 1943 and served as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps until 1972. He was Medical Director of St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario, until his retirement in 1982. With respect to Howard's wishes cremation will take place with a private family service at a later date. Burial will be at the Pakenham Cemetery in Pakenham, Ontario. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, Ontario, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
