Of Magnolia Drive, Paris on Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his residence, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Nancie Townend; dear father of Kenneth and his wife Debbie of Fort Erie, John and his wife Irene of Welland, Jean Gibbins and Michael of Toronto and Linda Carrigan and Tim of Kitchener; step-father of Andy Sharp and his wife Cindy and Caroline Kring and her husband Dan, all of Brantford; lovingly remembered by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; survived by one sister, Elsie Cranmer of England. Predeceased by his first wife, Doris Cox (1981) and one brother, Laurie. Mr. Gibbins was born in Tenbury Wells, Worchestershire, England, a former resident of Cambridge and had been a resident of Paris, Ont., for the past 16 years. He was a former employee of Dresser Industries, a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Paris Branch and the Hamilton Air Force Club. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 20, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kathleen Leadley officiating. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.
