    • EHRHARDT, SOPHIA (Nee Hefkey, formerly Schoemaker)

      Mrs. William Ehrhardt of Puslinch, at the home of her son, George, on Tuesday, April 27th 1920, as a result of falling down the cellar steps on Sunday evening, suffering concussion of the brain and a broken wrist, in her 72nd year. She came to Canada from Germany, when she was 7 years old and was twice married, first to Louis Schoemaker of Preston, who died a year after their marriage and forty-two years ago, to William Ehrhardt, who survives with children, Mrs. Gehl of Preston; John and Henry of Puslinch; George of Clearview in Waterloo Township; and Mrs. Ernst Radke of Kitchener. Mrs. Ehrhardt was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends, as she had been well known, a resident of this vicinity for many years. In religion, she was a Lutheran and in her younger years, took an active part in church work. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon from the residence of her son, George to Hespeler Cemetery. It was very largely attended, many of the older inhabitants of Hespeler turning out. Rev. Erischick of St. James' Church conducted the service.

Second wife of William Adam Ehrhardt (1842- 1931), son of Casper and Christina Magdalena Ehrhardt of Wiedenrod, Germany. His first wife was Barbara Albrecht. Sophia and William Ehrhardt's children were Mary M. (born c. 1871); William F. (b. 1874); Henry Carl; Alberta Gerhard (b. 1880); John (1881-1958); and George W. (1885-1962).
