  A-1-70 August Schmann: Probate of Will of August Schamann, late of the Township of Wellesley, Yeoman, granted by W. Miller, on the prayer of Eve Margaretha, the widow of the said deceased and also his heiress, the eighteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, the Will being proven by John Scott, of said Township of Wellesley one of the witnesses thereto, and being written in the German language, was translated into English by C. Enslin, Notary Public, and certified to be a true literal translation…. Wellesley the 30th May 1855 "Opinion of Will of August Schmann for his wife both are agreed that August Schmann in good understanding hath delivered and bequeathed his whole property to his wife Eve Margaret - after deduction of the debts that no other heirs or else can made a claim than August Schman his wife, Besides has the said wife after his death to send twenty five dollars after here Canadian money to Germany to Scholattin, but should be the case that his heir be no more alive than the wife Eve Margaret has not to give off any thing. The said twenty five dollars this was his free opinion of Will. Witnessed by Daniel Creans[?] and Johann Leck[?] Will date 30 May 1855 Proven 18 June 1855 Inventory stated about £30/-.
