  STAMMERS, CHARLES LAMBERT BROOK was a graduate of the Medical Faculty of Trinity University, Toronto in 1895. His arrival in New Hamburg was noted in the Volksblatt on April 1, 1896: Dr. L. B. Stammers of Toronto has purchased the practice of Dr . Nichol here, and will take possession at once. Four years later the same paper noted his departure: March 21, 1900. Dr. Stammers who during the past four years has practised his profession successfully here, has sold out to Dr. Walters of Plattsville. The Doctor has during his residence here won many friends who will all regret to hear that he is leaving our town. The next day the Daily Reformer added to this statements Dr. Stammer(sic) has sold out his practice to Dr. Walters of Plattsville, who took possession last Saturday. Dr. Stammer has proved himself a physician of rare ability, and has established a good practice, and won the confidence and esteem of many in and around Hamburg. In him we lost a valuable friend and physician. Dr. Walters comes highly recommended so that Hamburg will still be favored with two good doctors. He left New Hamburg for Smith's Falls, where he resided until his death on January 1, 1938. Dr. Alexander D. Campbell, Doctors in Waterloo County 1852-1925, 1986 ________________ DR. C. STAMMERS DIES IN HOSPITAL Smiths Falls Physician Ill Several Weeks in Ottawa- Saw Overseas Service (Special to The Gazette) Smith Falls, January 27 - Dr. C. L. B. Stammers, well known member of the medical profession of this town and district, died tonight in the Ottawa Civic Hospital where he had been for several weeks suffering from a heart condition. Dr. Stammers was widely known in Lanark County where he had filled several offices, including Coroner and member of the Board of Education and the Board of Health here for many years, and of the local brand Association Liberal-Conservative Association. An Overseas man, he was also connected with the Canadian Legion here, having served in the Great War at Salonica. In religion he was a member of St. Johns Anglican Church, also a member of St. John Men's Club. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Lorena Rose of this town, also a daughter, Miss Dorothy, of the Collegiate Institute staff here.
