- GAMMIE, Jean Roberta (nee Stickles) Peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Jean Gammie passed away on September 3, 2012 in Guelph, in her 89th year. Loved wife of Dr. Robert (Bob) Gammie. Beloved mother of Doug (Donna), Craig (Wendy), Fran (Art), Joan (Dave), Bruce (Lisa), and Kay (Dave). Jean graduated as a registered nurse from Hamilton General Hospital in 1946, where she met and married Bob. She helped Bob set up his medical practice in Hespeler and worked with him for many years while raising her family. She remained active in her community, especially with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of the Pauline Brown group and often played duets with the organist. Jean was also the accompanist for a senior choral group from St. Luke's Place. She was an accomplished pianist and has passed the love of music and the arts on to her many grandchildren. Jean spent many wonderful summers with Bob, her children and her grandchildren at Sauble Beach. Her family and many friends in Hespeler celebrate Jean's rich and joyful life and mourn her passing. Jean's family will welcome friends at the Lounsbury Funeral Home , 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. We extend our sincere thanks to Nancy and Wendy, nurses on 4 West at Guelph General Hospital and to Dr. Martin and Dr. Chang for their support, care and compassion.
