  • Notes
    • RUTH EMMA MACGACHEN (nee WALSHAW) Peacefully on September 9, 2013 at Shepherd Lodge with Beverley and June by her side, in her 98th year. Predeceased in 1996 by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Henry Beverly. Also predeceased by her niece Anne Bailey (nee Walshaw), nephew Peter Thompson, both of whom were very special to her, and her brother Balfour. She will be fondly remembered by her remaining nieces and nephews and their families: Michael and Doug Walshaw, Nora and Nancy of the Thompson family, Beverley, Cindy, John and Rod of the Holliss family. Also, fondly remembered by June Moon, daughter of best friend Kay Sommers. Ruth was the "cool" aunt. She was the first female buyer for Eatons and in that position made many a trip to New York and Europe searching out the latest leather fashions. As a career woman she was inspirational to all of us. She even introduced some of us to The Beatles. Ruth lived a full and happy life and said that she was quite content with her life and her achievements. A special thanks to Monica for making her comfortable in her final years as well as the staff at the Shepherd Terrace and Lodge. A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held by the family. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the Ogden Funeral Home.
