  Alexander T. McRae Passes A well-known and highly respected Ayr resident, Alexander Thomas McRae, passed away at Willett Hospital, Paris, on Saturday. Mr. McRae, who was 79 years of age, had been in ill health for some time. He was born on the 6th concession of South Dumfries on December 3, 1888, a son of the late Andrew McRae and Isabel Hobson McRae. He farmed the family acres until 13 years ago when he retired into Ayr, at which time the farm passed into the hands of his son Ian. Mr. McRae was a valued member of Knox United Church where, over the years, he served in many capacities including the office of elder. He was also a member of the choir for many years. Mr. McRae was a lawn bowler, and was affiliated with the local club. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Catherine Kennedy, are two sons, Murray of Denfield, Ont., and Ian of South Dumfries; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Mackie (Jessie) of Ayr, and twelve grandchildren. Funeral service was held on Tuesday from Knox United Church, conducted by Rev. D. E. Willis. Temporary entombment was made in Ayr Cemetery Chapel. The Ayr News Feb 15 1968 pg 9
