- Sherk, Alvin E. - At his home 621 Fischer Drive, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1975, after a brief illness, Alvin Eustace Sherk, aged 94 years.
Formerly farmed in Wilmot Township near New Dundee for many years. A member of St. James Lutheran Church, Mannheim. Mr. Sherk was born in New Dundee, a son of the late William Sherk and the former Mary Park; a lifelong resident of the Twin City area; predeceased by his wives, the former Barbara Schmetzer in January, 1927 and the former Melinda Beckman November, 1956.
Surviving are a son, George Sherk of London, Ont., Mary (Mrs. John Dick) and Gladys (Mrs. Lorne Schlueter), both of Kitchener, Lucy (Mrs.. Charles Rogers), of Elora, Laura (Mrs. Gordon Schrag) Calico Rock, Ark., Margaret (Mrs. J. Wilson Bowers) of London; also surviving, a sister Clara (Mrs. Maurice Hurd), Flint, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener after 7 p.m. today until 11 a.m. on Friday, when removal will be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Mannheim, for the service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Richard Holm officiating. Interment Union cemetery, New Dundee. Donations to the building fund of the church may be made as expressions of sympathy.
