    • Harold passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the K-W Campus of Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 87.

      Beloved husband of the late Doreen Hurley (nee Heinbuch) who predeceased him on January 18, 2008. Harold is survived by his daughter, Jane Allensen; sons, Pat Hurley and wife Carmen, and Tom Hurley and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Sarah Asamoah (Ernest), Ryan Allensen (Jen), Vanessa Hurley (Matthew Griffin), Patrick Hurley (Kristin), Bettina Weber (Cory) and Blake Hurley (Laura Hill); great-grandchildren, Chase, Brett, Lena, Brooke, and Mackenzie. Also survived by sisters-in-law Olive Flick (Bill), Marie Levesque (Maurice), and Betty Ann Culver.

      Predeceased by his parents, Willard and Lily (nee Hickey) Hurley; brothers, Jack Hurley (Georgianna) and Frank Hurley (Ila); sister, Nora Baker (Frank); and sisters-in-law, Eileen Stock (Joseph) and Geraldine Merkel (Arnold).

      Harold, nicknamed "Boat", played Junior Hockey for the Stratford Kroehlers and Senior Hockey for the K-W Dutchmen, Galt Terriers, Galt Hornets, Oakville Oaks, Guelph Regals, Chatham Maroons and Elmira Polar Kings. Boat's hockey highlights included playing in the 1960 Olympics at Squaw Valley, California, the 1962 Ice Hockey World Championships at Colorado Springs, Colorado, and with the Chatham Maroons in Moscow, Russia. Boat won the Turofsky Trophy eight times for the Lowest Goals Against Average and was permanently given the trophy, which he donated to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

      Harold worked at Bauer Industries Limited for 53 years, retiring as the Plant Manager.

      There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Phil Reilly as Celebrant. A reception will immediately follow the mass in the Parish Hall.
