  Isabel Leet Perry (McNaught) was born in North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co., Ontario, on March 18, 1899 to Charles and Eliza McNaught. She passed away quietly February 8, 1999 at the Hythe Nursing Home at the age of 99 years. Isabel had a passion for living each day that was infectious to those around her. She pursued her many interests with endless energy. So many words come to mind: wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, scholar, family member, naturalist, photographer, horse-back rider, hiker, berry picker, traveler, potter, genealogist, pie-maker, story teller, gardener, historian - the list goes on. Charles and Eliza McNaught pioneered into the Beaverlodge area in 1912, coming in over the Edson Trail with a team of oxen, Tom and Jerry, pulling a wagon. Isabel was the second youngest of their five children. She continued her education in Ontario then attended the Calgary Normal School. Isabel spent 42 years teaching elementary school in the Peace, settling in Beaverlodge Elementary when consolidation took place. She retired in 1966. Since then she resided with her sister, Betty McNaught, on their farm just south of Beaverlodge, where they have continued to enjoy the hourses, the picnics at McNaught Lake, and the many friends that drop in for tea. Isabel is survived by her sister, Euphemia (Betty); daughter, Liza Shippam; granddaughter, Kim Shippam; nieces, Peggy Martin, Janet (George) Hartford; and many other family members. Funeral service for the late Isabel Perry was held on Saturday, February 13, 1999 at 2: 00 p.m. from the Beaverlodge United Church, Rev. Claude Schroeder officiating. Interment followed in the Halcourt Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Visual Arts Scholarship Fund administered by the Beaverlodge Cultural Society; the Cancer Society; or charitiy of your choice, would be appreciatd by the family.
