  • Notes
    • Passing of Mrs. Senior

After a lingering illness extending over many months and borne by great fortitude, Mrs. Senior died on Thursday evening last, and the remains were laid to rest in the Ayr cemetery on Saturday afternoon, the funeral taking place from the late residence on Northumberland Street. In the demise of Mrs. Senior there passes away another of Ayr's oldest and most respected residents, a lady beloved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance and one who will be greatly missed in the community. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mr. Law, curate of Trinity Church, Galt, in the absence of Canon Ridley, who was unable to be present through illness, and was assisted by Rev. John Thomson. The following acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Jno. G. Watson, D. McColl, E. Meggs, James S. Black, William Currie and J. N. Colling (Toronto). The sympathy of the village will be extended to Miss Morrison, sister of Mrs. Senior, in her sad bereavement. Mrs. Senior was a daughter of the late Dr. John Morrison of Morley, Ireland, where she was born over 88 years ago. It is about 55 years since she came to Canada. She was married to Mr. Richard Senior 37 years ago, and was predeceased by her husband 17 years. Since her marriage she had lived in Ayr continuously. Deceased was a faithful member of the Church of England. Among the friends from a distance who attended the obsequies were Dr. and Mrs. Campbell, London; Mr. F. W. Coyne, Bronte; Mr. J. N. Collins, Toronto; Miss Ballingal, Galt, and Mrs. John Morrison and son of Richwood.
