  CALDER, John It is with great sadness, that the family of John Coull Calder, wish to announce his passing on Wednesday. April 14, 2004, at St. Luke's Place, Cambridge, Ontario. His final hours passed peacefully, with members of his family at his bedside. Born in the Galt Hospital, Cambridge (Galt) on March 18, 1922, he was a lifelong resident of the city. While growing up in his parents home, at 44 Aberdeen Rd. S., he attended Dickson Public School and later the GCI. The Calder family were, for many years, dedicated members of Knox's (Galt) Presbyterian Church. On August 28, 1940, John volunteered to serve his country by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His early military training began at the Galt Aircraft School, followed by postings at various stations in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime provinces. During most of his final year in the service, he served as a flight engineer with 116 Squadron, R.C.A.F., engaged in Atlantic patrol. John and his family moved to 111 Stewart Avenue, Galt, in 1954. In 1967, he married Kay and they purchased what would be their home for the next 36 years, at 138 Stewart Avenue. John retired in 1985, from Budd Canada, in Kitchener, after 17 years of service. Their family's 49 years of residency on Stewart Avenue, came to a close in 2003, when John sold his home and moved to St. Luke's Place, Cambridge. He is predeceased by his second wife Catherine "Kay" Margaret Milne (nee Kilgour) in 1996, also by his Scottish born parents, John Calder (1954) and Agnes Ritchie Coull (1982); one sister Anne B. Fysh (2003) of Westland, Michigan, a brother-in-law William R. Fysh (1999) and one niece, Carol A. Fysh (1962). Survived by one daughter, Susan P. Glousher (Douglas Kimpel) of Sheffield, Ont; three sons, John B. Calder of Waterloo, Ont., Gordon H. Calder (Susan) of Trenton, Michigan and Richard K. Milne of Cambridge, Ont.; two grandchildren, Nancy A. Steckly (Michael) of Kitchener, Ont. and William R. Calder of Trenton. Michigan; two great-grandsons, Jarred M. Steckly and Jacob A. Steckly, both of Kitchener, Ont; two nephews, Charles R. Fysh of Westland, Michigan and William J. Fysh (Sandy) of Plymouth, Michigan. Our family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the organization, staff and volunteers of St. Luke's Place! The kindness and compassion they extended to our father during the closing months of his life have been greatly appreciated by him and his family! We would also like to thank our good neighbours, on Stewart Avenue, the Stachowski and Caldwell families, for their many years of friendship! Friends will be received at T. Little Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 223 Main St. E., Cambridge, on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in Little's Family Reception Centre.
