    • Death of John G. Ballard - Mr. John G. Ballard, of Listowel, formerly of the 1st concession of Elma, died on March 8th of paralysis of the throat, which prevented him from swallowing anything, his throat becoming completely closed. Deceased was a native Canadian, of English parentage, and was born in Whitchurch, York county, in 1837. When a young man deceased came to Wellesley, settling near Hawkesville. About sixteen years ago deceased sold his farm in Wellesley and with his family removed to the township of Elma. His wife, two sons and two daughters, survive him. Mrs. Ballard is a sister to Mr. J. B. Hughes of Waterloo.
