      The death occurred at Stratford on Monday of Lorenz Christoph Friedrich Roegele, father of Mrs. Annie Leis, of this town, in his 85th year. Death followed a short illness with influenza.

      The deceased was for the greater part of his life a resident of North Easthope where he was well known and highly esteemed. He was a valued member of Zion Lutheran Church at Gadshill.

      His wife, Helena Gingerich, passed away about four years ago, but the following family survive: Henry, Stratford; Jacob, Saskatoon, Sask.; and George, of Stratford; and eight daughters, Mrs. A. Dunlop, Montreal; Mrs. W. Davis, Toronto; Mrs. Ed. Vince?, London; Mrs. A. Leis, New Hamburg; Mrs. G. fink, Stratford; Mrs. W. Wein, Dashwood; Mrs. J. Fisher, Amulree, and Mrs. Clarence Pepper, Stratford. There are also surviving 30 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

      The funeral service was held on Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church thence to Avondale Chaper until Spring when interment will be made in the Gadshill Cemetery.
