  Lucy Orpha Elmore, daughter of Dr. Joseph and Sophia R. Elmore, was born in Elizabethtown in 1813, and instructed by her mother in the Presbyterian faith, but joined the Methodist Church in 1828. For some time, she kept house for her brother P. V. Elmore. 24 years ago, she taught school at Greenbush. For about a year, near the end of her life, she lived at Brampton. Last June, she left to reside with her sister, Mrs. A. Kilborne, and her nephew J. B. Kilborne, at West Montrose. She died, March 9, 1868, while visiting her nephew P. S. Kilborne of Winterborne Christian Guardian 18 Mar 1868, pg 47- 8 Apr 1868 pg 60
