  Lydia U. Bowman, "the third daughter, is married to Jacob E. Shantz. They reside on the old "David Schneider" farm at Freeport. Their family consists of four children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. ________________________________________ Shantz. Lydia U. Bowman, widow of the late Jacob E. Shantz, was born April 14, 1855; died at the home of her son-in-law, Anson Hallman, Preston, Ont., Jan. 3, 1929; aged 73 y. 8 m. 20 d. Her husband died Mar. 31, 1922. She is survived by 2 sons, 1 daughter, 14 grandchildren; also 3 brothers and 1 sister ( Benj. Bowman, Kitchener; Joseph, New Hamburg; Allan, New Dundee; and Mrs. Jacob Hallman, Detroit, Mich.). She was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for fifty years. She was stricken with a paralytic stroke on Oct. 10, 1925, from which she never fully recovered. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. Jonas Snider and at First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, by Bro. C. F. Derstine. Text, Rev. 14: 13.
