  • Notes
    • Mervyn graduated from the University of Toronto, St. Michaels College with a degree in Bachelor of Arts on June 8, 1950. He attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor on June 24, 1954. Mervyn was appointed Queens Counsel on December 15, 1966 and was admitted by the Chancellor and Senate of the York University on June 15, 1991 to the Degree of Bachelor of Laws. On June 24, 2004, he became a Life Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

In 2010, Mervyn was honoured with the Waterloo Law Association's Coulter A. Osborne Award in recognition of his "integrity, comity and beneficence in professional practice and public life." An article in Grand Magazine, titled "Consummate Gentleman," provided an interesting and insightful review of Mervyn's career, his family life, and the characteristics that have earned him the respect of his friends, peers and clients.

Mervyn has a long and distinguished career of legal and public service in the Waterloo Region dating back to 1956. He served on Kitchener City Council for 15 years from 1964 to 1979 and spent 6 years on Regional Council from 1972 to 1978. He has also served on various Hospital and University Boards.

Mervyn joined SorbaraLaw in 2001, and retired from the practice of law in 2016, after more than 62 years of dedicated service to his clients.
