  Owen S. Bechtel of RR 2, Kitchener, died today at the K-W Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 80. Born in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bechtel, he farmed in the township until his retirement in 1952. He was a member of Mannheim Mennonite Church. His first wife, the former Melissa Knechtel, died in 1936. Survivors include his second wife, the former Margaret Gingerich; five sons, Clinton of Kitchener, Leonard of Doon, Delfred of Baden, Eldon of Preston, and Lloyd of Doon; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Elsie) Eby, Petersburg, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary June) Willsie, Kitchener and Mrs. David (Avon) Burkholder, Edmonton; a brother Eden, Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Knarr, Preston, Mrs. John (Ida) Shantz, Breslau, Mrs. Edna Lugibihl, Pandora, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy (Nettie) Snider, Milverton; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ruby, in 1939 and by two sisters and two brothers. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home from noon Friday until noon Saturday. The service will be conducted at the Mannheim Mennonite Church at 3 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Gordon Bauman. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Donations to the Ontario Mennonite Mission Board will be accepted as expressions of sympathy. The Kitchener-Waterloo Record 1 May 1969 __________________ Owen S. Bechtel Owen S.
