    • VERNON HARLOCK

      PRESTON, May 9 - Vernon Lester Harlock, 41, of Kress Hill, Preston, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Sunday, after an illness of 18 months. Deceased was born in Kitchener in 1896 a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Harlock, now of Beaverdale. He enlisted with the 111th Battalion for overseas service and was wounded in action in December 1918. He was later transferred to the 4th Battalion upon his return. Following his discharge from the army in 1919, he was employed by Clare Bros. He was a member of the Canadian Legion and St. Peter's Lutheran church. Surviving are his widow, the former Eloydia May Gmelin, his parents, two children, Ross, age 15, and Shirley, aged 13, three brothers. Percy of Hespeler, Stanley of Beaverdale, and Irvine of Kitchener, and one sister, Mrs. Walter Scheffel of Hespeler. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock from Pass and Barber Funeral Home to Preston Cemetery. Services will be held under auspices of the Preston branch of the Canadian Legion. Rev. W. H. Knauff will officiate.
