Notes - Two Men Killed at Berlin: Berlin, July 16: …there was a deafening clap of thunder and a flash of lightning. The lightning struck a brick house on Weber street in course of erection, and in which five carpenters were working. Two men named Christopher Mercklinger and Wesley E Learn, one of whom was working at a window in the second storey, and the other down stairs, were instantly killed….The injured persons were removed to their homes, and the dead were carried into the building and were subsequently taken away, Learn to his home and Mercklinger, who is a native of Dundalk, Ont., to the Council chamber.…The funerals will take place on Monday.
