Kitchener-Centreville-HermanCharlesAffeldtHouse.jpg The Affeldt family lived on the first main crossroad behind Centreville, just down the hill from the Stahl place, on the same side. In more recent years it was characterized by a stone-work wall around the barn-yard and all along the front of the property. This was built by a son Joseph, in 1939. There were 10 children in this family - Martha, Mary, Herman, Joseph, Amelia, Abe, Harry, Albert, Lizzie and Eda. At the time of this writing (1963) Joseph is living on the place with his sister Lizzie keeping house. His health does not permit him to be very active. Having lived all his life in this place, he has seen many changes. He recalled the days when they would have large gatherings of people around their little place for such occasions as church suppers - they were members of St„ Peter1s Lutheran Church in Kitchener at the time of Pastor von Pierch and Pastor Oberlander and his mother was a faithful worker.
