Enlisted at Saskatoon, Sask. On March 18, 1915 with 38th Battalion. Transferred to Princess Pat’s Canadian Light Infantry. Methodist. Born at Hespeler, Oct. 17, 1893; educated at Hespeler School and Galt Collegiate Institute, and at the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon. He taught school in Saskatchewan for nearly a year before enlisting. He was killed in action at Hooge, Belgium on June 2, 1916 in the Ypres salient. He was killed by a shell after having served eleven months in the trenches. Mr. Wellington Keffer, Hespeler, Ontario is his father. Fred Keffer, Hespeler, Ontario.
