Four lines of alphabet letters, under which is the maker's name and various motifs and ornaments, worked in reds, golds, and blues. Sampler is mounted on a stiff backing (has been removed). The original catalogue record notes that it had a black frame (presently unframed, 6/2000). A post 1950 family tree is adhered to the backing of the sampler, with family names: Bowman, Tyson, Urmy, Millar and Thibaudeau.
