Walter William "Wally" Johns1908 - 2001 (93 years)Loading... Walter Johns - Gov. Pauline McGibbon - 1981 Wally began his life of Scouting in 1924 at Galt Ontario. 1927 he was Scoutmaster for the 1st Preston Troop. With the Galt Rover Crew, he bagan volunteering his time to run summer camps in the Galt area. He was a A&P store manager and was moved from town to town. In 1939 while working in Orilla he was a Scoutmaster there, then on to Huntsville in 1940 where he was an assitant Scoutmaster while starting up a Wolf Cub Pack at the Baptist Church. When he moved again, his wife Edna and he decided to come back to Huntsville in 1944 with him being employed at Jupp Motors,a Ford dealership. 1945, Wally started up a Wolf Cub Pack at the 1st Huntsville Troop and in 1946 became Scoutmaster. 1951 he helped make the decision to buy and build Pitman's Bay Camp on Mary Lake, with Wally spending thousands of hours of volunteer time for the betterment of the local youths. 1981, he received the Silver Acorn, Canada's highest award for an active Scout.
